Daiga Ancikovska, Acting Manager

Daiga started working with us in 2012. She first came to Ireland in 2004 when she was taking a year off from studies. Having worked and travelled extensively across the island, she returned to Latvia in 2006 where she completed BA (Honours) in Political Science from University of Latvia. Inspired by Irish culture, history and people, she carried out a comparative political-economic research on Ireland and Latvia as part of her undergraduate thesis. Since her return to Ireland in 2009 she has completed various further education courses and volunteered with Carlow Citizens Information Services and Carlow District Credit Union. Daiga thoroughly enjoys her volunteering experience as she always had a great interest in social inclusion and interculturalism issues and most importantly because she has seen peoples’ lives being changed for the better. Daiga started her internship with Carlow Volunteer Centre in 2011

Elizabeth Ciara Collen, Placement and Outreach Officer

On completion of her BDes (Hons) in Printed Textiles in 2005 Elizabeth established her own business which she ran independently for 6 years. She then achieved her MSc in Art Psychotherapy (International) in 2011 after an inspiring volunteering opportunity in Thailand with an artistic outreach programme that works with a wide-range of social groups and humanitarian organisations.  Her commitment to volunteering and empowering individuals and communities to develop personally and socially inspired her to volunteer both locally and internationally. In 2011 she also volunteered in South India with an NGO working with communities towards social transformation. Working alongside the children, staff and women in the local community, she organised and facilitated group sessions, workshops, introductory talks, training and an exhibition.  She has also volunteered in community centres throughout Scotland working with youth projects and at a number of festivals and events.  Elizabeth relocated to Ireland in 2013 and has experienced volunteering and event roles with various organisations here including an 8 month internship with Event Volunteers, Fingal Volunteer Centre.
