The objective of the International Year of Volunteers +10 (2011) is to build on the success of the International Year of Volunteers 2001. The Year will be officially launched on 5th December 2010.

One of the contributions of the Year will be the ‘State of the World\'s Volunteerism Report\' (SWVR). Its aim is to encourage debate on volunteerism during IYV+10. Activities throughout the Year will highlight volunteerism as a means to address diverse issues, such as poverty reduction, sustainable development, climate change, health, disaster prevention and management, and social integration. Particular attention will be paid to the contribution that volunteerism makes to the United Nations Millennium Declaration and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
